How to use Nicotine Shots?

Ali2020-11-11T21:48:48-08:00

Mixing nicotine shots doesn’t need to be complicated. If you’re wondering what the steps are to mixing, then you’re in the right place! The following guide will take you through all the steps you need to know with the minimum fuss.

What Exactly is a Nicotine Shot?

Nic shots are sometimes known as nicotine boosters and usually come in a 10ml bottle. They are mixed with PG and VG to form a substance without flavour. This liquid can then be added to nicotine-free e-liquids.

Incorporating a nic shot with your nicotine-free e-liquid can give different nicotine strengths. These strengths include 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 15mg, and 18mg.

What are the Tobacco Product Directive Regulations?

The Tobacco Product Directive released a set of rules and regulations in 2017 in order to inform and ensure the safety of people when it comes to nicotine use. The regulations noted that liquids including nicotine cannot exceed 10ml. Nicotine content must also be less than 20mg/ml. In addition, tanks can only have a capacity of 2ml as a maximum.

What is a Shortfill?

Shortfills are e-liquid bottles typically between 20ml and 100ml. They are completely nicotine-free e-liquids. The bottles come with extra space to allow nic shots to be added which is really handy.

How to Add a Nic Shot

At this stage, you might be wondering how many nic shots you’ll need to make 3mg. Luckily this is very straightforward to work out.

First you’ll need to determine the size of your short fill.

25ml short fill – add a 5ml 18mg nic shot to take it up to 3mg.

100ml short fill – add two 10ml 18mg nic shots to take it up to 3mg.

500ml short fill – add a 10ml 18mg nic shot to take it up to 3mg.

How to Mix Shortfills and Nicotine Shots

  1. Check that you are adding your nic shot to a nicotine-free e-liquid.
  2. Take off the cap and nib from the e-liquid bottle.
  3. Do the same with the nic shot bottle.
  4. Squeeze the nic shot into the e-liquid gently, making sure not to spill any.
  5. Wash your hands if any liquid did spill.
  6. Replace the lid for the e-liquid bottle and shake well to mix.

How much Nicotine should I use?

This is very much dependent on your own personal preferences. Different people will naturally prefer different amounts of nicotine. This will also depend on how much you used to smoke.

In general:

0mg/ml is recommended for people who didn’t smoke or what to totally cut out nicotine.

3mg/ml is recommended for people who were light smokers or occasional smokers and want to cut down on nicotine.

6mg/ml is recommended for people who were moderate smokers and do not want to reduce their nicotine intake too dramatically.

12mg/ml+ is recommended for people who were heavy smokers and want to keep their nicotine levels high for the time being.
